Sneeuwitjie

Sneeuwitjie, the Afrikaans word for Snow White, is the name of Nieu Bethesda's only pre-primary school. The four women who work here have hearts big enough for over a hundred village children to come to them every day and never be turned away. But government subsidies and other funds are scarce so Dorah, Cathlene, Monica and Carol mobilised and, in 2001, opened a restaurant in one of the school rooms.

Those dining at the creche always praise the delicious food and the friendly atmosphere. The restaurant, open seven nights a week, serves a choice of dishes each night - including vegetarian. Bring your own wine! The creche is open from 6.30 p.m.

Head up Hudson Street towards Pienaarsig. The first big building on your left is the creche. Call 049 841-1656 to book.
